Easy French Fries Recipe – Crispy and Delicious

French fries are a universally loved snack with a crispy outside and soft inside. Perfectly golden and seasoned, they make a delicious treat on their own or paired with your favorite dip!

Ingredients:

  • 4 large potatoes (Russet potatoes are ideal)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)
  • 2 tablespoons corn flour
  • Salt, to taste
  • Cold water
  • Ice cubes (optional for extra crispiness)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Peel the potatoes (optional) and cut them into thin, even strips, about 1/4-inch thick.
    • Soak the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours to remove excess starch, which helps achieve extra crispiness. For an added crunch, consider adding ice cubes to the water.
  2. Drain and Dry:
    • Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel to remove as much moisture as possible.
    • Toss the dried potatoes with corn flour for added crispiness.
  3. First Frying (Blanching):
    • Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to around 325°F (165°C).
    • Fry the potatoes in batches for 3-4 minutes, just until they become tender. They should not turn golden yet.
    • Remove and drain on a paper towel. Let them cool for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Second Frying (Crisping):
    • Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
    • Fry the pre-cooked potatoes again in batches for 2-3 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
    • Remove and place on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
  5. Seasoning:
    • While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt. You can also add spices like garlic powder, paprika, or any seasoning you prefer.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the hot, crispy French fries with ketchup, mayonnaise, or your favorite dip.

Tips:

  • Corn Flour for Crispiness: Adding corn flour helps to make the fries extra crispy.
  • Double Frying: This method gives fries a crispy exterior and fluffy interior.
